1. What is the warranty? Answer: Overhead Door Company of Colorado Springs offers a 1 year warranty on all parts and labor. The manufacturer, Overhead Door Corporation, offers varying product warranties as well. 2. Can the doors be painted? Answer: Yes, the doors can be painted with any exterior latex paint, but it is recommended that a de-glosser be applied to the factory finish before the new paint is applied. 3. Why would I want an insulated door if my garage is not insulated? Answer: Insulation offers additional strength and rigidity to the door as well as providing an insulation factor. A steel backed insulated door will withstand our windy conditions much better than a non insulated door. The insulated door will last longer and run quieter. Insulation is valuable to protect from heat loss in winter and keep heat out in the summer, and also to reduce noise. 4. What is R-Value and how does it benefit me? Answer: R-Value is a rating that defines how well heat is retained. Even if your garage is not heated or insulated, adding a door with an R-value will help hold heat in that escapes from the house. Your door is usually an entire wall in the garage and provides some heat retention. The higher the R-value, the better the insulation. 5. What kind of maintenance is required for my garage door? Answer: It is very important to maintain something in your home that gets as much use as your garage door. The door and opener should be serviced annually by one of our trained service technicians for years of trouble free service. We at Overhead Door offer a courtesy Annual Maintenance Program, where we call to remind you it is time for your garage door service. Just ask to be signed up for our Annual Maintenance Program. 6. Can my non-insulated door be insulated? Answer: Yes, Overhead Door Corp. has insulation kits designed for insulating a hollow metal [Uninsulated] door. This kit will add weight to the door, therefore the springs may need to be adjusted or changed in order for the door to balance and run safely and effectively. We can custom cut the insulation to fit your size and series of door. This can be a DIY project. 7. Will my door have to be special ordered? Answer: We stock many sizes, styles and colors of doors, and a large variety of glass options. If you chose a door that we have in stock, it can be installed within a week. If the door needs to be ordered, the lead-time can be 2-4 weeks. 8. Can I replace a section of my door? Answer: Yes, sections can be replaced. This an be a cost effective option if the rest of the garage door system is in good working condition and meets safety guidelines. 9. Which is better, chain drive or belt drive? Answer: A belt drive opener is quieter and has a longer manufacturer's warranty than a chain drive. 10. What are the standard sizes of a garage door? Answer: Standard one car wide doors are either 8' or 9' wide and a standard 2 car wide door is 16' wide. Standard heights for residential doors are 7' or 8' high. Special size and oversize doors are available. |
